Accredited by CSWE, our master’s in social work program combines a practical curriculum with groundbreaking classroom tools and experiences. Two Social Work Skills Labs give you the opportunity to prepare for your field practicum and practice skills. The curriculum emphasizes cultural humility within a strengths-based, generalist intervention model.

Depending on your goals and schedule, choose from twelve start dates throughout the year and three degree completion options:

Manage your workload by choosing the number of courses to take each term (normally one or two) with the Traditional option.

Commit yourself to more intensive study with the Traditional Fast Track option, in which you take more courses per term on a consistent basis.

You may be able to reduce your time to degree completion with the Advanced Standing option, available to students who already hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with a 3.0 GPA or higher from a CSWE-accredited program.

Note: If you are planning to enroll in 3 courses per quarter, the costs may be more than your financial aid offer per quarter. Please consult for questions about how the Traditional Fast Track and Advanced Standing options might impact your financial aid.

Program Admission Considerations: A bachelor's degree or higher. For the Advanced Standing option, students must have a BSW from a CSWE-accredited program with a GPA of at least 3.0.

Walden University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program meets the academic requirements to obtain the required credential to practice as licensed social workers in all states.
