Frequently asked questions

  • How do I apply?

All applicants will need to submit a Walden application and provide transcripts for admissibility. Enrollment criteria can vary depending upon college and degree specialization of choice. Your enrollment advisor will guide you through the entire enrollment process. Response time from the Office of Admissions can vary from 1- 5 days.

  • Does Walden offer financial aid?

Financial aid is available upon approval. You can apply through the FAFSA website. FAFSA is a combination of grants and loans. However, grants are only available for undergraduate students.

Walden also offers alternative funding opportunities for those that qualify, such as scholarships, fellowships and grants and other discounts through organizational partnerships, active duty military, veterans or employees of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

  • How much will my degree program cost?

The cost of the program will vary depending on a number of factors, program of choice, length of program, cost per credit, specialization option, amount of transfer of credit received and full or part-time attendance. Request information

  • How do online classes work?

Classes are designed to be flexible. We offer an A-synchronous class engagement, meaning there isn’t a specific time students are required to be logged in their class. However, there are submission requirements and due dates. Students are expected to post coursework prior to faculty established due dates.

  • How is Walden different?

Walden University was founded in 1970 by two teachers seeking a better way for adults to pursue advanced degrees without leaving the workforce. That vision meant rethinking a brick-and-mortar classroom to allow broader access through distance education.

Walden collaborates with national industry leaders and higher education experts to ensure we create high-quality online programs that are relevant to the needs of today’s and tomorrow's—workforce.

  • Does Walden require entrance exams?

No. Walden does not require entrance exams for admission. We review your most recent/relevant academic experience. You will be required to meet a specific GPA requirement for your program of interest (which can vary depending upon your chosen degree path).

  • How long will my degree take to complete? What is considered full-time/part-time status?

The length of your program can vary depending on factors such as your program of interest, transfer of credit, full/part-time enrollment status, grades (course retakes), or if you take any leaves of absence (LOA) during your program.

    Full-time
Undergraduate: Registered for 12 or more credits per quarter
Graduate: Registered for 6 credits per quarter or semester

    Part-time
Undergraduate: Registered for fewer than 6 credits per term
Graduate: Registered for 3 to 5 credits

  • Is Walden accredited?

Walden is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and was recently awarded the maximum length of accreditation (10 years) due to exceptional performance and maintaining a high level of integrity within our programs. We also offer program specific accreditation.
